Mario Di Paola
University of Palermo, Italy

Professor Mario Di Paola graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Palermo, Italy, in 1970. In the same year, he started teaching Dynamics of Structures as Assistant Professor at the University of Palermo. In 1986, he was promoted to Full Professor of Mechanics of Solids. Over his long career, he has thought Mechanics of Solids, Dynamics of Structures, Structural Safety, and Structural Mechanics at the University of Palermo. His research interests cover a wide range of topics, including stochastic dynamics, earthquake engineering, wind engineering, viscoelasticity with particular focus on fractional viscoelasticity and nonlocal mechanics. Professor Di Paola has (co-)authored over 150 ISI journal papers and many conference proceeding papers and presentations. Moreover, he has been invited as keynote speaker at several prestigious national and international conferences. He is currently part of the Editorial Board and reviewer for several high-impact international journals. He has been supervisor of many Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. theses in his research field. In 2018, he has been awarded the title of Emeritus Professor of Mechanics of Solids.
